The engineers of the future will be confronted more than ever with three players who are essential to the success or failure of a technological development: the user (U), society (S) and enterprises (E). In the USE basic course I have learned about these players and the role of the engineer on the basis of the social and management sciences and the humanities.
I have examined current dilemmas relating to technology from several philosophical perspectives looking at ethics and the past. In these dilemmas or problem statements, divided over 2 assignments, various stakeholders were introduced at first. And secondly researched with an eye on the engineer, USE and energy and sustainability.
With the help of this course I developed an objective view on ethical dilemmas an engineer have to deal with and I have learned to make a well-considered and grounded decision.
