Creative Mechanical Engineering

In this course I have been taught basic Mechanical Design principles and how to apply them to Industrial Design projects. In the course I have learned the basic material properties and material selection techniques. Furthermore there is dealt with basic manufacturing techniques and their suitability for a project.

After a series of lectures about the topics above we have started to focus on rapid prototyping. Together with my team we had to make a model that contained moving hinges, constraints and different materials.

We had to make this model in Solid Works to be able to print it with the Objet, a 3D-printer present in the faculty of Industrial Design. This taught me the basics of working in Solid Works.

The model along with a report about our design choices and force calculations were the deliverables for the course.
