Aesthetics of Interaction

The Aesthetics of Interaction course aims  to create awareness and understanding of the factors that influence the aesthetics of product interaction. Through theoretical lectures, practical design exercises  and critique sessions I learned to understand and explore the combination of people’s bodily skills and physical expressiveness of artifacts. Theoretical concepts of inherent, augmented and functional feedback and -forward are explained in a framework that can be used to analyze and improve interaction design.

This knowledge is applied to the alarm clock design case, in which we, as a group, had to improve the interaction between a user and the alarm clock. By exploring and applying the theory, we designed a new alarm clock with more aesthetic interactions. We presented this in a physical prototype and a video.
